No, it's not a real privilege in the United States.

The process is usually one of them.

1. Go to college. Get a 4-year) degree (or higher. Apply at a branch of the OCS (Officer Candidate School). If you make it through OCS, you can have your commission.

2. Program to the university on an ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps). There, in the framework of its program to offer information about the military in general and the branch that the program sponsors. The army will take most or all tuition fees, and perhaps even a small pension. In return for committing to six (I think) years in this industry. If you do not find it as an officer, I think you have to devote to his appointment to be registered.

3. Go to a school system. This is highly competitive and requires the support of their elected representatives. Again, the tuition fee is paid and is allowed while attending a performance that you run a couple of years as an officer.

4. To win. Fight your way through the soldiers. Finally, you can use the rank of officer. Probably the slowest.

5. I think all services have programs by which a novice when it was added to the program to actually in the university where he studied and received his commission in the army. After I graduated, enrolled in the OCS and get their commission. Probably the most practical and cost and service.

I knew I had more than one branch, but if it is I think it's only because it is in the royal family. Here is a branch or another, not several. The only exception is that the president is the commander in chief of all industries. I doubt he even makes the British people more civil to one branch of the military.

NO! They have different rules for the British king!

In the U.S., you must have a university degree in 4 years, a decent average and a degree that the military can get on a board of officers.

I know that can be given directly as an officer of the university in order here in the States. You can also in places like the Air Force Academy.
